I have just installed this particular model of Bosch Dishwasher. This is a lower end model in the 300 series, Bosch's middle of the line series. Bosch's bottom line series is the Ascentia, and they lack some of the features that Bosch is know for, such as two pumps. For that reason I avoided that series, this particular 300 series model is priced only about $100-150 more than the bottom line Ascentia. The noise level of this model is 48 decibels, which is fairly quiet for a dishwasher. Some of Bosch's cheaper units are 52/53 decibels, which would be over twice as loud as this 48 decibel model. However, you definitely can hear this unit is running, so really no need for the red lazer beam projected onto the floor. I suppose this is primarily for dry cycle, since you cannot read the LED display of the time remaining, with the door closed. Still fairly quiet though, you can fairly easily have a conversation or watch TV in the same room with the dishwasher running. This unit has the control and LED display on the top of the door, and you cannot read the display of how many minutes remaining in the cycle. You have to open the door to see it, and some water will spray out of the unit. If I could go back, I would have purchased a model with a front facing controls and display. The other thing I am dissapointed in with this model is the lack of the "express" cycle. The fastest cycle on this model is the "half load" cycle, which isnt much shorter than the "normal" cycle (99 versus 115 minutes). The "express" cycle on similar models is a 30 minute cycle, very nice for lightly soiled dishes. Overall, this is a nice dishwasher and is both attractive in appearance and quiet running. Bosch has a reputation for reliability and efficiency. I have several relatives and friends that have purchased Bosch dishwashers in the past and have been extremely happy with them.
